Agoria's 'Le Code d’Orsay': Inside the Musée d’Orsay’s First NFT Exhibition
The Musée d’Orsay in Paris is set to host its first NFT exhibition, titled "Le Code d’Orsay," featuring original artworks incorporating blockchain technology. The exhibition, curated by artist and DJ Agoria (Sébastian Devaud), is a groundbreaking foray into the intersection of digital and physical art.
Scheduled to run from February 13 to March 10, "Le Code d’Orsay" will present two pieces of "biological generative art" created by Agoria in collaboration with artist Johan Lescure. The first piece, titled "Sigma Lumina," involves an intricate steel sculpture. When illuminated from above at specific intervals, the sculpture casts a shadow in the shape of a QR code. Museum attendees can scan this QR code with their smartphones to access a Tezos blockchain-powered website featuring colorful art inspired by works from Impressionist masters displayed at the Orsay.
The interactive aspect of the exhibition comes into play as visitors blow into their phones, transforming the digital images into unique artworks minted on the Tezos blockchain. This innovative approach aims to bridge the gap between the physical and digital realms, providing museumgoers with a tangible connection to the digital art created through their participation.
Agoria, also known as Sébastian Devaud, emphasizes the importance of making digital art sensible and not opposed to the physical space of the museum. The exhibition challenges traditional perceptions of digital art, inviting museum visitors to actively engage with and take ownership of the digital creations inspired by the masterpieces at the Musée d’Orsay.
"Le Code d’Orsay" showcases the evolving landscape of art, technology, and blockchain, offering a unique and immersive experience at one of the world's renowned cultural institutions. The exhibition not only explores the possibilities of blockchain in the art world but also introduces a novel way for audiences to interact with digital art within the museum setting.
