Elvis Presley Dances Into the Metaverse via 'The Sandbox'

The Ethereum-based metaverse game, The Sandbox, is set to introduce a collection of officially licensed Elvis Presley NFT avatars, celebrating the iconic musician's legacy. The release date for these avatars has been confirmed, with around 3,000 of them being made available.

These NFT avatars will feature various outfits and hairstyles that Elvis Presley was known for throughout his historic career. Additionally, they will come with unique emotes inspired by his signature dance moves. The avatars are minted on the Ethereum scaling network Polygon, and they will be fully playable within The Sandbox's multiplayer experiences, providing access to future features and content within the metaverse.

The public sale of these Elvis Presley avatars is scheduled to begin on August 9, following an exclusive 24-hour purchase window for specific NFT-based land and avatar collection owners, as well as those on an allowlist. The avatars will be divided into four rarity levels, and each one will be priced at 100 SAND, which is approximately $41 at the time of writing.

Beyond their in-game utility, holders of these avatars will also possess governance and voting rights for the Elvis Legacy Council DAO. This decentralized autonomous organization will allow the community to participate in decision-making processes related to Presley's digital expansion. The Elvis Legacy Council has previously announced plans for another Ethereum-based metaverse game, Decentraland.

The introduction of these Elvis Presley NFT avatars highlights the growing intersection of popular culture and the metaverse, as well as the increasing importance of NFTs in bridging digital experiences with real-world legacies.
