Ethereum NFT collections drive weekly volume to $304M

Ethereum-based NFT collections saw a significant surge last week, driving overall digital collectible sales to $304 million, marking a 76% week-on-week increase. According to CryptoSlam data, Ethereum NFTs alone contributed $201 million, accounting for 66% of all NFT sales volume over the past seven days. This boost far outpaced sales from other blockchains, with Bitcoin NFTs recording $40 million, Solana NFTs reaching $29 million, and chains like Mythos Chain, Immutable, Polygon, and BNB Chain collectively contributing $25.9 million.

Notably, Ethereum-based collections dominated the week, with Pudgy Penguins leading the charge at $54.4 million in sales, followed by LilPudgys with nearly $20 million. Other standout projects included Azuki, which saw a remarkable 130% increase in sales, reaching $18 million, and the Azuki Elementals collection, which surged by 226% to $7 million.

Doodles and CryptoPunks also secured spots in the top 10 collections by sales volume, with Doodles recording $13 million and CryptoPunks reaching $7.4 million.

This record-breaking week surpasses the $296 million sales volume seen in September, which had been the lowest since 2021. The surge in sales is reflective of a strong December, which has already recorded $678 million in NFT sales, surpassing November’s $562 million.

However, while Pudgy Penguins leads in NFT sales, its native PENGU token has not performed as well, experiencing a 50% drop since its launch, trading at just $0.03, down by around 55% from its peak.
