Mila Kunis' Stoner Cats Banned From NFT Marketplaces After SEC Charges
The Stoner Cats NFT project has been banned from trading on prominent NFT marketplaces like OpenSea, Blur, and Rarible following charges from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that the creators sold unregistered securities.
As of now, OpenSea and Blur do not show any active listings for Stoner Cats NFTs, and Rarible no longer lists the project on its site. Although OpenSea still has the project page visible, Stoner Cats NFTs cannot be bought, sold, or transferred through the platform. OpenSea has mentioned on its Community Standards page that it prefers to keep project pages online even when trading is disabled because the site also serves as a blockchain explorer for NFTs.
Rarible confirmed that it blocked Stoner Cats NFTs based on its monitoring of recent events. Blur's response regarding a trading ban is not mentioned in the report.
It's worth noting that while these NFTs are no longer listed on some platforms, they still exist on the blockchain and in the wallets of their holders. They can still be sold on marketplaces that list them, such as LooksRare and X2Y2.
Stoner Cats is a project co-created by actress Mila Kunis, with her production studio Orchard Farm Productions behind it. The project involved selling Ethereum NFTs that provided access to a six-episode web series featuring animated cats in humorous situations involving getting high.
