Proof-of-Stake Blockchain Leapfrogs Decentraland To Become Crypto’s Top NFT Project for Development: Santiment
In a significant development reported by Santiment, a proof-of-stake blockchain has surpassed Ethereum-based Decentraland (MANA) to become the leading non-fungible token (NFT)-related crypto project in terms of development activity. According to Santiment's analytics, Flow (FLOW), a layer-1 permissionless blockchain, has exhibited robust development with 190.77 notable GitHub events over the past 30 days. In comparison, Decentraland recorded 144.9 GitHub events during the same period.
Metaplex (MPLX), a decentralized NFT platform built on Solana (SOL), secured the third position with 23.07 GitHub events, followed by Axie Infinity (AXS), a prominent blockchain gaming project, with 17.97 events.
Santiment underscores that its methodology excludes routine updates and employs a refined approach to gather GitHub data, which includes a "backtested process." The firm emphasizes that substantial development activity indicates strong developer confidence in a protocol, thereby reducing the likelihood of the project being an exit scam.
Previously, Decentraland also slipped from its top position in Santiment's ranking of top crypto gaming projects by development activity, yielding to MultiversX (EGLD), a distributed proof-of-stake blockchain network supported by over 3,000 nodes.
At the time of writing, Flow (FLOW) is trading at $0.735, marking an approximately 6% decline over the past 24 hours. Flow is currently ranked 84th by market capitalization.
This shift highlights the dynamic nature of the crypto and NFT space, where newer protocols like Flow are gaining traction and outpacing established platforms like Decentraland in terms of developer engagement and activity.
