Sony’s Soneium Marketplace Hosts First-Ever Music NFT Collection

Sony's blockchain platform, Soneium, has launched its inaugural music NFT collection in collaboration with Coop Records, an on-chain record label. This collection features unreleased tracks by Tokyo-based producer NUU$HI and is available on Soneium's NFT marketplace, Sonova.

The NFT, a 22-minute-long track, is priced at 0.000777 ETH (approximately $2.11) and will be available until the end of February 2025. As of now, 644 out of a possible 999,999 NFTs have been minted.

Coop Records, founded by crypto entrepreneur Cooper Turley, has previously brought over 600 songs on-chain, working with artists like Zeds Dead, San Holo, and Barry Can’t Swim. The label promotes NFTs as an alternative to traditional music ownership, though Web3-based music platforms have yet to see widespread success.

This initiative reflects a broader trend of integrating blockchain technology into the music industry, offering artists new avenues for monetization and closer connections with their audience.
