UK Publication Removes Article Promoting Health Service-Linked NFTs

The Northamptonshire Telegraph, a leading UK newspaper, has removed an article from its website that promoted a non-fungible token (NFT) linked to the health service, after concerns were raised about the lack of evidence supporting claims of donating half of the transaction fees to the National Health Service (NHS).

The article, authored by someone calling themselves a "crypto wizard," endorsed the Nurse Coin Token and NFT on the platform's global contributor section, which allows anyone to publish content.

According to the report by Sylvester Sean Masango, one NFT was priced at $334, with purportedly half of the transaction costs designated for the UK NHS to aid children, medical expenses, and care home development. The article also outlined various crypto terms such as "deflationary model" and the establishment of a $1 million liquidity pool.

Furthermore, contributors to the fundraiser page were promised 4,000 Nurse Coin Tokens via airdrop upon the coin's minting.

While the publication did not make any allegations or accusations against the NFT project, it stressed the need for thorough investigation due to the surge in NFT and crypto scams in recent years.

According to Statista, the worldwide NFT market's annual revenue is projected to reach $2.38 billion this year, rising to $3.37 billion by 2028. In August 2023, BeInCrypto reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issued a warning regarding fraudsters impersonating NFT developers.

The FBI advised NFT enthusiasts to conduct thorough research on all minting opportunities, verify the authenticity of associated social media accounts, and scrutinize any website requesting wallet connection permissions.
