Web3 Watch X calls it quits on NFT profile pics

Web3 Watch X has discontinued support for NFT profile pictures, a feature that was first launched in January 2022. Initially introduced under the direction of CEO Elon Musk, the NFT profile pictures became a paid feature. However, users recently discovered that their profile pictures, which were hexagonal, had reverted to circular shapes.

Elon Musk, known for his interest in the crypto world, inherited the NFT project, and its discontinuation occurred under his leadership. Despite users' anticipation of crypto integrations under Musk, these hopes have not materialized.

PFP NFTs, which are digital art projects intended for use as social media profile pictures, gained popularity during the NFT boom in 2021. Collections like Bored Apes and CryptoPunks contributed to the trend. However, with the overall decline in interest in NFTs, tech giants like X and Meta have made similar decisions to discontinue NFT-related features.

In a separate incident, a group, including derivatives exchange BitMEX, attempted to send a private key containing one bitcoin on a NASA-led trip to the moon. Unfortunately, a fuel leak in the lander built by Astrobotic made the payload's landing on the moon unlikely. While there is optimism that the spacecraft could survive longer than initially estimated, the fate of the bitcoin remains uncertain.

On the financial side, bitcoin's performance in the spot ETF market had a sluggish second day of trading, sliding 11% from its Thursday high. This development adds to the uncertainties surrounding both the crypto and NFT markets.
