Hakuhodo and Japan Airlines begin second phase of KOKYO NFT trials
Hakuhodo Inc. and Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. have announced their plans to initiate a second phase of demonstration experiments for the KOKYO NFT project starting in February 2024. The project involves tokenizing unique local experiences and real-world assets (RWAs) as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with the goal of building relationship populations among Japanese and international purchasers interested in these areas.
The primary collection, KOKYO NFT, is set to be hosted on Astar zkEVM and is scheduled for release on March 3. The project's first phase successfully demonstrated the feasibility of enhancing the value of local experiences by tokenizing them as NFTs, showcasing their rarity and limited nature. This tokenization also deepened connections between recipients and local businesses, paving the way for transforming one-time engagements into recurring relationships.
For the second phase, the focus will be on expanding the scope and content of the demonstration experiments, particularly by incorporating insights gained from the initial phase. The emphasis will now extend to the tokenization of regional real-world assets (RWAs), aiming to utilize Japan's diverse and lesser-known experiences and crafts across six regions. The objective is to amplify relationship populations and contribute to new regional development by sharing the value of these experiences with a global audience.
Simultaneously, a dynamic NFTs promotional campaign will run alongside the demonstration experiments. This campaign will feature evolving NFT experiences, gradually shaping and changing an origami figure—a universally recognized symbol. The intention is to appeal to both domestic and international audiences and engage them in this unique and interactive NFT campaign. The continued collaboration between Hakuhodo and Japan Airlines reflects their commitment to exploring innovative ways to showcase and share the rich cultural and experiential tapestry of Japan through blockchain technology and NFTs.
